Wonderful cozy home nestled by Lake Lemon. Walk next door to the Porthole for delicious pizza, stuffed breadsticks and cold drinks after an action packed day on the lake. Gather around the firepit for s’mores! Our lake home is the perfect mid-way point between IU Bloomington and Nashville (Brown County) Indiana! Catch an IU game, stay by the lake while you’re in town to visit family, or make us your home base while you explore quaint Nashville! Please read through my entire description prior to booking. We have a king bed in the master bedroom. There’s a second bedroom upstairs with two full beds. The basement has a brand new couch that pulls out to a queen bed. There’s one small shared bathroom. The home can comfortably host 6 people beyond that the bathroom situation is the limiting factor. We are on a septic and kindly request that only waste and toilet paper are flushed. Our home is off a small canal off the main body of the lake. We do have our own dock on the canal but can only accommodate smaller boats and need advanced noticed if you intend to dock a boat. The home is stocked with all basic necessities ie TP, paper towel, soap etc.. we have a full kitchen and it is stocked to prepare basic meals. It is not stocked to prepare thanksgiving dinner ?? if you need specific cooking/baking utensils you may want to pack them. There is a washer and dryer. You will be provided a code prior to check in. Please understand that i am a working mom and once in awhile something comes up and either a message doesn’t go through, or i fail to get the code prior to 4:00. Should this happen send me a message on the VRBO platform and call my phone. Rules: 1.) no parties. We have several ring cameras on the outside of our home for safety purposes, but also to monitor to ensure there are no parties. If an large number of undisclosed guests are coming and going the police will be called. Our neighbors are also in close proximity and will also call the police. Our home is not a good choice for parties. If you intend to have any guests during your stay please let us know in advance. 2.) do not wear muddy shoes in our home. Please leave shoes by the front or back door. It helps keep things more hygienic for everyone. 3.) food stays in the kitchen. If you stain the couch you will be charged for cleaning. 4.) wash off feet and any oils on your body before using the hot tub. If you get mud and excess oil in the hot tub it requires our maintenance guy 3 extra hours to fully drain and refill the tub. We will charge a non-negotiable $120 fee if we have to do this after your party’s stay. NO BUBBLE BATH, SOAP, SPA BUBBLES MAY BE ADDED. Again, should this occur you will be fined if we have to drain and scrub the spa. Please leave the spa covered when not in use! Thank you kindly for your understanding. There are posted instructions by the spa on how to care for it. Spa use is at your own risk. It should not be used by children under 10 years old for safety reasons. 5.) no smoking in or around our home. If we find cigarette butts you will be fined $200 for cleaning the property. We have severe asthma/allergies in our family. 6.) we have a strict non-negotiable no pets policy. Sorry! Reference number 5 please, asthma and allergies to animals. Again a fee applies. 7.) At check out please strip every bed that has been used and leave dirty linens and towels in the kitchen by the washer/dryer. Please load all dirty dishes and turn on the dishwasher. This helps our cleaner turn over the unit in time for the next guests. 8.) Kayaks must be rented with advance notice. It’s best if you let me know a week prior to check in if you’d like to rent them! I don’t always remember to ask every guest if they’re interested so please remember to inquire if you are! :) a percentage of all kayak rental will go towards a high risk pregnancy non-profit. We love our guests! We’ve been opening our lake home to guests since 2018. We’ve rarely had any issues but we have these rules in place to ensure good communication of our expectations for our property and we thank you in advance for abiding by them. Both bedrooms have queen beds. Walk up the stairs to the loft which overlooks the great room, and get another wonderful view of the windows looking out to the hardwood forest. The house is at the end of a road that dead-ends into the forestry, and lies on a large piece property adjacent to state forest, providing ample privacy and great forest viewing! Relax in the hammock and enjoy the spectacular colors of the leaves in the fall, go for a long hike and watch the birds and other wildlife, listen to the sound of owls and whippoorwills while you star gaze or sit by the outdoor fire pit in the evenings. Test your naturalist skills in identifying the vast number of mushrooms, plants (medicinal and other) and tree species that grow around the property and in the adjacent forestry. The house has central air and heat as well as a wood stove insert with glass door in the basement, so you'll be comfortable no matter what time of year you visit. Children will have fun playing in the sand pile and on the swing set, as well as in the game room downstairs, and televisions with DVD players are located on both the first floor and in the basement, with basic Direct TV. Your well-behaved dog is welcome, and the house has a large fenced pet area on the side of the house where he/she can enjoy the outdoors without you worrying about them (note, obviously test the fence for your animal before trusting them there, as a few smart dogs have figured out how to climb or otherwise escape, although most remain contained and content. Also note that several of the neighbors have horses, dogs, cats and chickens, so please be respectful that your animal doesn't disturb them). The house is five minutes from Lake Lemon and Danny Smith Park, 15 minutes from Nashville, IN, Brown County State Park, and Bloomington, IN. It is about 20 minutes from Lake Monroe and Indiana University--and functions as a great place to stay with family or friends for IU games and events. The house is also close to IU hospital, Yellowwood state forest, Morgan Monroe state forest, and the Tecumseh trail, as well as miles of popular biking roads. The history of The Oaks goes back to the mid 30’s when the core of the current cabin was built as a summer home from property timber and stone. Over the next several decades a beautiful cedar three level structure was added over the original cabin, and three decks were added to give it its unique charm today. From the rooftop deck hear the birds call, the oaks rustle or just relax and soak in the sun. Let the kids play on the play set while you enjoy the hammock. If you’re more energetic, or more likely, if they are, ? explore the 2 marked trails that wind around the grounds. Don’t forget to swing on the tree swing down the hill, or the 2 person swing overlooking the pond. Or maybe it’s a game of basketball with the teenagers. Most folks, small and large, enjoy fishing the pond with stocked 2 lb. catfish as well as smaller bass and bluegill. Oh, can’t forget a soak in the hot tub in the early morning or late night! Step into the first level and be greeted with a warm and comfortable family room with an entire wall made of stone from the property. The built in gas fireplace provides the warmth and cheer to groups relaxing on the couches and the 46” HD TV with Blu-Ray & satellite can be viewed from both this room and the kitchen. The breakfast bar and the glass dinning gazebo provide ample seating for 10. The kitchen is very generously stocked with all the necessary appliances and then some! Enjoy breakfast outdoors on the patio. There is a unique half bath and laundry room on this level as well. Check out the Living/Game Room on the next level. The unique Geode Gas Fireplace warms and cheers the activities that include pool, Wii games, cards at the bar height table. Maybe enjoy one of the 100+ books curled up on the window seat. While the owners do not live close by, they do come to the horse barn next door but your enjoyment of Cliff Creek Cabin is very important to them…and of course, mutual respect for their privacy and property is appreciated, as well. The main level has plenty of space to entertain…guests will surely enjoy the big kitchen with seating around the island. There’s even a wine cooler to chill your favorite brand of beer or bottle of bubbly. Two dining tables make it easy to feed a crowd, whether you’ve cooked up a holiday-style feast or brought in several big pizza boxes to spread out. A big flat screen TV/DVD and sofas mean everybody has a prime spot to watch a movie or sporting event. There’s a bedroom on the main level with a king bed for the lucky person who calls first dibs. We have two master suites. The upstairs suite offers the most privacy with its own private bathroom and barn doors for charm. The king-size hybrid mattress offers the ultimate comfort. The second master suite is on the main level, is attached to the main floor bathroom, and features a new king size cool gel memory foam mattress. The other bedroom on the main level features a queen-size bed with a new memory foam mattress. On the walkout level, you can comfortably sleep three with a set of bunk beds and an additional twin size bed. With the blackout shades in this room, maybe the “Luck of the Irish” will help the kids sleep a little later in the morning. We feature 3 bathrooms, one on each level. Our tankless water heater will ensure no one has a cold shower. If you still need convincing, you will find a gas fireplace in the main room and an electric fireplace in the basement. We have a fire pit in the woods for s’mores and a hammock for relaxation.

A couple of futons. are available for sleeping in the living room, and a loft bedroom accessible by a steep ladder offers two twin beds and a double bed as well. Even though this cabin is quite remote and secluded, it is a pretty oasis in the midst of government-owned forests that the true nature enthusiast will surely appreciate.

The Bird nest is located on 14 private wooded acres backing up to Yellowwood State Forest, in beautiful Brown County. It is helpful if you have a front-wheel or 4 wheel drive vehicle. When going up the hill maintain a steady speed and you should not have any problems.

One bedroom w/ loft family cabin located on 16 wooded acres in NW Brown County. Great for a family and weekend getaways! Very secluded, peaceful -- beautiful in all seasons. Big front porch and the property is full of wildlife. I've owned this cabin for 20 years and regularly use it with my kids and my friends. And thus -- a family cabin. What you are getting is a second home established for native comfort. Nice beds, large working kitchen with most modern conveniences -- convection oven/stove, microwave, fridge (and stocked with basics that we use ourselves and you are also welcome to use), good cookware, dishwasher (that so-kountry moveable type), coffee maker, electric skillet, three (count 'em) Weber grills, random working spices, etc. I stay at rental homes myself from time to time -- I hate dealing with burned-up teflon skillets and dull knives. That won't be your issue -- I promise. I adore music and if you do to, it's a fun experience. I have a new computer running itunes connected to the stereo. And in itunes I have my music collection -- 36,000 songs for you to enjoy. I usually just play it on random -- it's a fun, permanent radio station. I also have about 300 LP records, from my 'youth'. There are two guitars, strung, played and maintained. A capo, extra strings, picks, etc. If you play, enjoy these. There's a wood-burning stove which is wonderful to run during the cold months. Likely required in the Dec/Jan. There's a large, covered front porch, full of seating options. A great place to sit and gaze into the quiet show that is the woods directly in front of you. We have pileated woodpeckers and a red tailed hawk ranging on the property. We have two big TVs and associated DVD players, stereo (already noted), Windows 8 laptop. We now have fiber (as of 10/16/2020). There is no cable but it's a new smart TV connected to the internet. So Netflix, etc are all available.. There is no landline phone. Two window unit AC's that do the job. Space heaters for the winter along with a propane wall unit and the wood stove. Firewood provided. The bath is nice -- shower insert, pedestal sink, etc. One note -- this is a cabin deep in the woods. While we do everything we can to mitigate the native pests -- we still get native pests! This would include insects entering the property (though I use an exterminator twice a year) and mice. Unfortunately, mice are a function of cabins. I have baited 'traps' inside and outside and re-doubled my efforts this Spring/Summer but it's not uncommon to run into a mouse. Now, don't get me wrong -- it's not an epidemic but I would like to set expectations. We actively mitigate but eradicating is simply not possible for all the threat. This is about a 20 year old cabin, built from a kit (courtesy of Poole Saw Mill in Helmsburg, IN). It's poplar log that was laid green and seasoned in-place for two years. Then finished. The man who built it, Daniel, is Amish and did a nice job. He lived on the property for about for about five years and there are several charming outbuildings -- outhouse, manger, canning shed, chicken coop and a little structure on the 'back 40'. Daniel lived in that crazy structure out back for a couple years with his wife and two kids while he was developing the property! I built a big barn in 2001. And there is a large deck on the rear.

The apartment is situated on the lower level of the owner’s home, but guests have their own private entrance off a gravel driveway. While the owners do live there full-time, it’s likely you won’t see them. They understand that your privacy is important to you, and encourages guests to relax and enjoy their visit to Brown County. A southwest theme runs throughout the space…and there are lots of interesting things to look at and admire, from art (Owner's work) to books…as well as a pretty view out to the woods behind the home. Ginley's Gulch Family Cabin Located in a lush valley on 85 acres, the large Gulch home has a park-like setting, offers plenty of privacy and hiking opportunities. It is one of the county's few vacation homes that can accommodate 12 guests. This cabin has a long private driveway with a narrow bridge (anyone hauling a boat or camper should check with management before booking). The main floor features a large living room decorated and created from various types of wood found throughout the property. The floors and structural beams are oak, the bar is cherry, the staircase is poplar, the mantle over the wood burning fireplace is sassafras, and the paneling is walnut and pine. Relax in the living area. Play a game of pool, then two guests can claim the futon to get a good night's rest. The kitchen adjoins the living room and has the original cedar cabinets; the kitchen connects to the dining room. The main level has a bedroom with two queen beds and a full bathroom.
